Hyderabad: Indian American Murli Yadathi and his wife have donated Rs.10 million for a modern educational campus of the CAP Foundation in Andhra Pradesh that opened its door on Friday.

The couple on Friday inaugurated CAP's Learning Institute at Pati Village, Patancheru in Medak district. The building equipped with a computer lab, language lab, library and a conference hall has come up with the money donated by the Murli and Carmen Yadathi Family Foundation.

The centre will provide vocational and occupational pathways to around 750 children and young people every year.

Murli, a businessman based in Los Angeles, had visited CAP Foundation two years ago and interacted with some of the school dropouts from the slum communities who wanted to continue their education under CAP. Initial support from him saw 200 to 250 children from educationally underprivileged background study up to class 10 and also receive vocational education.

"The children here are some of the best and brightest faces of the world. Working hard and working together is the only path to freedom which the children here will imbibe and become great leaders," said Murli.

"This facility will ensure many more young people from economically and educationally disadvantaged communities to access and benefit from CAP program," CAP Foundation chair and trustee Nalini Gangadharan.

CAP Foundation works through public private partnerships in linking learning and livelihoods for youth at risk. IANS
