Nehru-Wangchuk Scholarship for Bhutanese students, says PM

Thimpu: Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh today announced the institution of the Nehru-Wangchuk Scholarship to encourage Bhutanese students to study in elite Indian universities and institutes.

This announcement was made by him in Bhutan where he told the newly-elected National Assembly of the Himalayan state that India will constitute a Nehru-Wangchuk Scholarship for all Bhutanese students who are willing to study in India.

"The scholarship is aimed at encouraging students from Bhutan to study in leading Indian Universities and institutes", added Manmohan Singh.

Dr. Manmohan Singh is the first world leader till date to visit Bhutan after it marked itself in the club of democratic nations in March this year.
