New Delhi: Delhi University (DU) is planning to introduce a 4-year dual degree honours programme at the undergraduate level.
A meeting of the varsity's Academic Council is scheduled here on October 7 to discuss the new proposal.
If implemented, DU will be the first university to offer a dual degree at the graduation level. Dual degree programs are likely to be introduced by all the newly established Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs).
Prof. Deepak Pental, Vice-Chancellor of the varsity said, "The introduction of a 4 year dual degree honours programme will be discussed with the council members. A decision on the same will be announced shortly."
The varsity has also proposed a semester system of examination instead of the conventional year-long sessions and one examination at the end of the year.
The introduction of semester system in all postgraduate courses from ongoing academic session was already announced by the Council in May this year.
