New Delhi: An AIDS awareness campaign has been launched by students of Delhi University (DU) with help from a Delhi based NGO 'NAZ Foundation Trust'.
Under the campaign, a group of 20 students will interact with newcomers, hostellers, rickshaw pullers, tea vendors, gardeners and other people in and around the area and judge their awareness about AIDS. Interaction will be done through a questionnaire.
The questionnaire has 37 questions on various aspects of the disease - its causes, effects and preventive measures.
"Generally people are aware of the disease and the stigma associated with it. But, they are not well informed about its transmission methods. We encourage the use of condoms so that AIDS can be prevented", said a volunteer from the group.
The target audience of this programme is the youth aged between 16 and 22 years.
