New Delhi: Three candidates of the National Student Union of India (NSUI) whose nomination papers for the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) election were rejected, approached the Delhi High Court on Tuesday.
Pleading for early hearing, the petitioners contended that the last date for depositing the amount for contesting elections was on Tuesday and the court should direct the university to accept their nomination papers.
A bench of Chief Justice Ajit Prakash Shah and Justice S. Muralidhar, however, refused to pass any order but agreed to hear the matter on Wednesday on priority basis.
The petitioners, Tanupriya Gupta, Bhavana Gera and Deepka Deshwal, told the court their nomination papers were rejected on Monday due to a fault of their college principals and heads of departments in verification and that they should be allowed to apply afresh.
