New Delhi: After a massive flood relief campaign by Delhi University (DU), the city schools have now come forward to help the flood victims in Bihar.
Many schools in city have donated money to various funds to help the flood-affected people in Bihar.
Bluebells International School sent across Rs.2 lakhs to the flood victims through an NGO immediately after the disaster struck Bihar.
A school from Dhaula Kuan recently donated a sum of Rs.4 lakhs to the Prime Minister's Relief Fund and a truck full of clothes and food grains to Bihar Bhavan.
"We deposited a cheque for Rs.1,68,000 with the Bihar Chief Minister's Relief Fund. While the teaching staff contributed a day's salary, students were free to donate whatever they were comfortable with. Donation in kind was discouraged as we were not sure of what was really needed by the victims there", said Usha Ram, Principal of Laxman Public School.
Last month, the US had contributed $100,000 for relief and rehabilitation of flood victims in Bihar.
The floods in Bihar have displaced 3.2 million people and killed hundreds of people.
