| DoE to launch mobile mathematics tutor for rural students January 10, 2009 New Delhi: The Directorate of Education (DoE) of Delhi Government will soon launch a mobile mathematics van to help students residing in rural areas and school dropouts. The inspiration to launch mobile tutor has been taken from 'Chalta-firta School and Science Vans', launched previous year. All the vans will have a television screen, computers, multimedia facilities, a library, blackboard, toys, and models. Students will get an opportunity to solve maths puzzles with the help of games. All these vans will visit the red light areas, construction sites and jhuggi clusters, rural areas, slum colonies where children do not have access to education. The mobile tutor will visit three or four such places across the city for three to four hours and provide education to children. The DoE will also take help from NGOs to ensure the effectiveness of the programme. The project will be part of the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA). |
