New Delhi: The Government would sponsor the Fashion Council of India in promoting and encouraging budding designers, Union Textile Minister Shankersinh Vaghela announced yesterday.

A brainstorming session was organized here yesterday with leading designers and industrialists from the garment and textile industry.

"The Fashion Council of India will provide a platform to promising designers to showcase their creativity and launch them in the global fashion industry", he said.

Vaghela further said, "There will be 30 percent reservation for the budding designers. We will also send five toppers from the prestigious National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) to foreign countries for further enhancing their talent".

Vaghela also cleared that the Government would only provide assistance & guidelines and not control the Fashion Council of India.
