New Delhi: Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) has introduced a Master of Education (M.Ed.) programme. The programme will be offered under the newly established University School of Education at the varsity's Kashmere Gate campus.
The one-year M.Ed. course is recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) and will have an intake of 25.
According to Prof. K.K. Aggarwal, Vice Chancellor, GGSIPU, "The University has been successfully offering B.Ed. programme at several of its affiliated institutions right from 1999. Since, there was no opportunity for the trained teachers for further professional and innovative growth, the time was felt ripe to commence the M. Ed. regular programme on the campus and thus add a new dimension to the University School of Education."
The programme has been designed keeping in view the latest changes in the educational systems and policies, and focuses on inculcating a spirit of research and inquiry and shaping the overall personality of the educators.
Eligibility: A graduate/ post graduate in any discipline from a recognized University, who has qualified B. Ed. examination with 60 percent both in theory and practical separately is eligible to apply for the M.Ed. programme. The admission would be strictly on merit calculated on the basis of qualifying examination. The fee for the programme is Rs.38,000.
