New Delhi: A program in Electrical Power System Management which was launched by Jamia Milia Islamia (JMI) three years ago has now become a hot favorite for students not only from India but also from other countries.

The M.Tech program in Electrical Power System Management has been specially designed for Electrical Engineers.

The program, run by the Department of Electrical Engineering, focuses on SCADA systems, distribution planning and automation, substation automation, restructuring and deregulation of power systems and digital communication etc.

Describing about the need of such program Professor Mini Thomas of the Department of Electrical Engineering said, "With the deregulation of the Electricity Boards, it was felt that there would be a spurt in demand for electrical engineers with specialized training in electrical energy systems management. Keeping this in mind, we decided to set up the SCADA lab for the benefit of industrial automation in general and the power industry in particular."
