So far, more than 50,000 children have been found anaemic and have been given iron folic acid tablets. Some children have also been referred for Thalassaemia diagnosis.

Dr. S.R. Monga, Chairman of the Public Health Committee, MCD, has appealed to all health providing systems to participate in this programme.

"Besides this programme, we are also providing nutritional counselling which will later it be expanded to other areas", added Monga.

Anaemia is the most common disorder of the blood. It is a condition which occurs when there is reduced number of Red Blood Cells (RBCs) or haemoglobin concentration. It severely affects the physical and mental growth of children.
