McGrath spends quality time with spastic children

New Delhi: Australian fast bowler Glenn McGrath has been aggressive on the field, but off it he has a softer side and the students of the Vasant Valley School found that out at the Feroze Shah Kotla here on Wednesday.

Some 10-15 spastic students of the school got to spend some moments with the 38-year-old pacer, who came out of his retirement to play for Delhi Daredevils in the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Amiable McGrath chatted with the students and signed autographs. He also presented them with a team cap each and then posed for a group photograph.

'So which team you all are cheering for?' asked McGrath and the reply came loud and clear: 'Delhi Daredevils.'

'It was nice to see these children. As a cricketer we travel a lot and the only thing we can do is some charity work,' said McGrath who started the McGrath Foundation in 2002 to support women suffering from breast cancer.

Other players of the team also joined the party and this time it was the cricketers, who lined-up to give their autographs.

It was a short interaction but left an indelible mark on the minds of the special children. IANS
