New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister, Mrs. Sheila Dikshit, yesterday awarded gold medals to 50 toppers of Polytechnic institutes, silver medals to 44 students and bronze medals to another 44 students at a function organised at the Delhi Secretariat.
She also announced that the seats in Polytechnic institutes have risen up by 50 percent and 33 percent more applicants appeared for Common Entrance Exams (CEE) conducted for admission to various polytechnics in the capital this year.
According to the Chief Minister, "The Government of Delhi is committed to offer employment-oriented technical education and guarantee placement of students in renowned industrial organizations".
She also announced the launch of separate institutions for training in bio-medical and para-medical courses which will be custom-built at Dwarka along with a job fair, to be organised for students who have passed out from various polytechnics.
"Last year, the job fair 'Sopan' was organized and it helped the polytechnic students immensely with getting good job offers", she added.
