New Delhi: The President of India, Pratibha Devisingh Patil will inaugurate the First National Education Day on Tuesday at Vigyan Bhawan in the capital. Patil will also be the Chief Guest on the occasion.
The function will be presided over by Mr. Arjun Singh, Minister of Human Resource Development. Mr. Thiru A. Raja, Minister of Communications & IT, will be the Guest of Honour.
The Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) has decided to observe November 11 as a befitting tribute to Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, the great freedom fighter, an eminent educationist and the first education minister of Independent India.
A special cover on Maulana Abul Kalam Azad will be released on the occasion by the President as a tribute to him.
A set of books, published by the National Book Trust of India, along with a photographic exhibition on Maulana Azad will also be inaugurated on this occasion.
The function will be attended by Vice Chancellors of state and central universities, heads of central educational institutes, eminent educationists and school children.
