New Delhi: The Delhi Government has announced that it will set up a Technical University for women in the capital.

"To focus on participation of women engineers in nation-building and encouraging technical education among women, Women's Technical University will be set up in the capital," Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit said after a cabinet meeting.

The existing Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology, which comes under the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), will be upgraded to form the university. IANS
