There may be a second coming in the second list
New Delhi: Admissions in nursery may not be a tough nut to crack if parents decide to expand their area of specific set of coveted schools.

Where on one side, the admission procedure for those whose name appeared in the first list is on, the neighbourhood schools expect the seats to go vacant due to withdrawals.

So, parents whose ward did not get through the first list, need not push their panic button for there seems to be a brighter chance of them getting admitted.

Anuradha Mathur, principal, Salwan Montessorie School at Rajinder Nagar, raised the expectations of those parents whose ward did not get admission in the first list and asked them not to lose hope as a number of withdrawals were expected after the first-list admissions.

"A strong second list is expected to be out, which will sort out the worries of various parents. People apply in 10-15 schools and tend to withdraw after seeking a suitable option, which is why we expect around 50% of the seats to go vacant. So, there is a promising hope for those doomed after the first list," Mathur said.

There were equal number of candidates in the first list and the waiting list - 150.

"Those listed in the waiting list had staggered points. Admissions, after the withdrawals take place, would be done on the basis of points only. Parents should keep their options open, they should not be disappointed if their ward does not sail through those 10-15 schools of their choice," added Mathur.

The hope also awaits for parents waiting for admission at Birla Vidya Niketan in Pushp Vihar.

The school is already prepared to call its second list candidates for admission.

"We had given three days to parents to deposit the fee according to the first list, but we now expect a huge number to withdraw after which we will open admissions again," Director R C Laddha said.

"With the waiting list of 50 candidates, we expect a fall out of may be 30 out of 228 seats from the first list," added the Director.

"Those on the waiting list may be accommodated due to withdrawals, but parents have to ensure that they are not fixated to a particular school," announced Renu Leuria, principal, SR DAV School, Dayanand Vihar.

Meanwhile, Springdales School on Pusa Road and Kirti Nagar declared their first list on Friday evening with just one candidate on the waiting list in each of the schools.

Springdales School at Dhaula Kuan, however, will declare its first list on Saturday.
