| Two new courses introduced at JNU School of Arts August 06, 2008 New Delhi: The School of Arts and Aesthetics (SAA) at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) has introduced two new courses in Arts and Aesthetics. The two courses - Curation of Art and Contemporary Aesthetics, will be available from the current academic session. "The Curation course would not only focus on contemporary art but also stress on Traditional Art", said Prof. Parul Dave Mukherjee, Dean, SAA. Mukherjee said, "Globalization and Information Technology have made far-off cultures accessible to people across the world. This course would provide students with the tools to look at these cultures through an aesthetics perspective". "M.A. and M.Phil. students have already started working on an exhibition on the contemporary Indian Art. The exhibition will be held by the end of November at an art gallery in Gurgaon", added Prof. Mukherjee. Three streams of study including Visual Studies, Theatre & Performance and Cinema Studies are offered by the SAA. The SAA has become very popular with students interested in arts and art forms. |
