New Delhi: The Indira Gandhi Institute of Technology (IGIT), a constituent College of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU), is all set to introduce two weekend programs especially designed for women professionals.
The only women's engineering college in the Capital, IGIT was so far offering only B.Tech courses.
From September 15, it will start two new programs namely the Master's of Technology (Electronics and Communication Engineering) and MBA (Enterprise Systems).
While the M.Tech program will have six semesters spread over three years, the latter will have a trimester system. Both the courses have 40 seats each.
The eligibility criteria for admissions to the M.Tech. program is a minimum of 60 percent marks in B.Tech./ B.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering/ Electronics Engineering; M.Sc. in Electronics; M.Sc. (Physics) with specialization in Electronics; B.Tech./ B.E. in Computer Science and Engineering/ Computer Engineering/ Electrical Engineering.
For the MBA program, a candidate could be a B.Tech./ B.E. in any branch of engineering; MCA/M.Sc. (Maths) along with a minimum one-year experience and BCA/ BBA with at least two years' experience.
The last date for obtaining and submitting completed applications for both the courses is August 31st, 2007.
"The programs are being launched as we realize the continuing educational needs of the growing population of women professionals in the Government, public and private sector. They want to assume higher responsibilities to better serve the industry by upgrading their qualification. They will not be required to leave their jobs or pay through their nose to study these courses," said Institute Principal Mr. Subhash Wadhwa.
