JEE 2010 announced for April 11
New Delhi: The Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) have announced the date for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) 2010, for admission to various undergraduate courses, as April 11, 2010.

The Joint Entrance Exam 2010 (JEE-2010), which is a pre-requisite for a candidate, to make it to the hallowed corridors of IITs, will comprise of two question papers of three hours each that can be answered in either English or Hindi.

Both the question papers will comprise of objective type questions with three separate sections on Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics.


The detailed syllabus of the entrance exam is available on the website of all IITs as well as in the Information Brochure of JEE-2010.

Before appearing for the exam, candidates must ensure that they meet the eligibility criteria furnished on the website.

The IITs exempt the candidates from appearing in JEE more than twice in consecutive years which means this time the candidate should have attempted the JEE for the first time in 2009 or will be appearing in 2010.

"Candidates who have accepted admission after qualifying in JEE previously by paying the full amount at any of the IITs, IT-BHU, Varanasi or ISM, Dhanbad are not eligible to write the JEE irrespective of whether they joined in any of the programmes or not," said an official.

The application procedure for a candidate is classified into two categories. He / she can submit the application either online through internet or offline through prescribed OMR application form.

For online submission of applications, candidates are required to visit the regional websites of the IIT, click on 'helpdesk for JEE-2010 online application' and follow the online procedure.

The students can pay the application fee through credit and debit cards of major banks or through draft of selected banks. Those preferring to pay online are entitled to get 10% discount on the examination fee.

For offline submission of applications, a candidate is required to buy an application form with Information Brochure from any of the designated branches of bank by paying Rs.500 for Schedule Cast / Schedule Tribe / Permanently Disabled / Female candidates to get a light green envelope and Rs.900 for all other candidates for a light blue envelope.

The Information Brochure consists of details regarding application procedure, syllabus of JEE, examination centres, list of courses at various institutions, counseling, fee structure and other relevant information about JEE-2010.
