Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat has said that the new education policy is in its final stage of preparation and will be announced soon.
Kamat was speaking as the Chief Guest at a function after inaugurating the Balram Residential High School at Ardh-Fond, Canacona yesterday.
Leader of opposition, Manohar Parrikar, MLA's Pandurang Madkaikar, Vijay Pai Khot, Vasudev Gaonkar and Ramesh Tawadkar also graced the occasion.
The Chief Minister further said that the proposed Education Policy has been prepared by eminent educationists.
Stressing the importance of education, Kamat said that there is no alternative to education. Education, he said, has become indispensable for the all round development of children and prosperity of the society.
Kamat also greeted the President of Balram Education Society on his birthday and lauded his efforts in opening the residential school for the Scheduled Tribe students of Canacona.
He assured all financial help for the residential school.
Leader of Opposition, Manohar Parrikar in his speech, commended the efforts of MLA Ramesh Tawadker in opening the residential school. He hoped that students of the residential school would excel at the national level in future.
Parrikar also suggested that such residential schools should be opened in more talukas.
MLA Pandurang Madkaikar, Vijay Pai Khot, Pandurang M. Gaonkar, Subhas Velingkar, Anil Powar, Sanjivani Apte also spoke on the occasion.
