Surat: Doctors at the New Civil Hospital here on Tuesday closed all the out patient departments as part of their protest to demand a Gujarat-wide common entrance examinations for postgraduate courses.

The doctors, who are pursuing their internship, burnt an effigy in the hospital complex and raised slogans against the state government on the third day of their agitation.

The police intervened and dispersed the agitating doctors.

The doctors are agitating for the past three days to protest against what they call the "unlawful" admission system for postgraduate courses. They want a common admission system for the entire state and demanded that no institution must conduct its independent exams.

They submitted a memorandum to the collector, performed a 'havan' and raised slogans against the administrators.
