GUJCET 2008 Entrance today

SURAT:GUJCET, one of the most awaited entrance tests for the students seeking admission in the state run Health Sciences, Engineering and Pharmacy Degree courses is scheduled to be held today.

The entrance exam for the course will be held at approximately 26 schools centers, selected by Surat district education department. For this year's GUJCET examination, district administration has declared 150 meter surrounding area all over the centers as "prohibited zone" for the next 24 hrs.

According to the Surat district education officer K R Jhanirukiya, "Total 10,050 students would appear in exams at Surat, who have to solve four question papers of one hour each of different subjects. Timings of the examination are from question papers of one hour of different subjects. Timings of the examinations are from 10am and 4pm. He added, "40 percent marks of this test would be counted along with 60 pc of the regular board exams to settle the ultimate merit list".

Moreover, Surat police is keeping an eye for any miss happening. Whereas, in the notification issued by R M S Brar, Surat Commissioner of Police states that, "Gathering of unauthorized persons and entry of private vehicles will not be allowed at examination centers. Assembly of more than four persons is also prohibited as per the notification issued", said a police officer. He further added that, "Students appearing in exams would also not be allowed to take mobile phones with them in the centers. Xerox and copier vendors are also being asked to shut their shops for a day".
