Ahmedabad: Calorx Foundation, an NGO working in the field of education, will set up an institution for training secondary school teachers in Gujarat.

The Calorx Teachers' University (CTU) will be located on 3.5 acres of land along the Sardar Patel Ring Road on the outskirts of Ahmedabad.

The infrastructural facilities for students will include separate hostel for boys and girls, well-equipped playground and swimming pool, library with national and international journals, computer lab with internet facility, laboratory for Psychology, Social Science, Language and Science Park, CTU chairman M.P. Chhaya told reporters here on Monday.

He said CTU will offer a dual BA-B.Ed degree after completion of a four-year integrated course in English medium beginning academic year 2009-2010. The programme aims to train "high quality secondary school teachers", Chhaya said.

"We are awaiting approval from the National Council of Teachers' Education (NCTE) for the course to be offered at CTU. The admission notifications will be issued once we have received the same. The students will be admitted through an admission test, group discussion and interview," Chhaya added. IANS
