Gurgaon: Mewat, considered as one of the most backward areas in Haryana, will get its first engineering college soon. The Wakf Board will setup the college at a cost of Rs.30 crores.
The college will start functioning from the next academic year. Degree courses in information technology, computer science, electronics and communication engineering and electrical & electronics engineering will be offered at the college.
The board is also planning to tie up with a university to start management degrees as well for students of Mewat, which was earlier in Gurgaon.
The construction of the college has already started in Palla village on 16 acres of land.
"The first phase of the building would be ready by December 24 this year at a cost of Rs.4.75 crores", said Hanif Qureshi, CEO of Haryana Wakf Board.
