IIIT to be setup at Sonepat
Chandigarh: The Union Government of Haryana has agreed in principle to setup an Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) in Haryana and land for it has also been identified in Kilord village at Sonepat district.

This was announced by the Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda here recently.

While heading a meeting to review the development works being implemented by the Technical Education Department, Hooda said that his administration has recommended to make the Deenbandhu Chhotu Ram University of Science and Technology, Murthal, and Guru Jambeshwar University of Science and Technology, Hisar as affiliating universities.

Even YMCA, Faridabad has been recommended to become an independent university to further enhance the standard of technical education in the State.

The administration has also proposed to set up the second campus of YMCA in Nekpur village in Faridabad costing nearly Rs.25 crore.

"To aid the setting up of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) at Rohtak, 213 acres of land has been offered to the Union Government in Garnawati village to improve the standard of technical education in the State," said Mr. Hooda.
