Now, written test for appointment of teachers in Haryana

Chandigarh: The Government of Haryana has decided to introduce a School Teachers Eligibility Test (STET) for the appointment of teachers in Government-aided schools of the state.

The passing of this test will now be an essential condition for recruitment to all categories of teachers i.e. JBT, Masters, Lecturers, Headmasters, Principals etc.

The test is scheduled to be held on 27th July, 2008 for Elementary Teachers; 3rd August, 2008 for Head Masters / Principals; 10th August, 2008 for Masters / Mistress and 17th August, 2008 for Lecturers.

Eligible candidates (as per relevant service rules) would get only three chances to appear and clear the test.

A certificate of eligibility would be awarded by the Haryana School Education Board (HSEB) to those who pass this test, which would remain valid for five years for consideration for recruitment as school teachers.

The pass percentage for general category candidates is 50 percent and 45 percent for Scheduled caste candidates for recruitment of teachers by the Haryana Staff Selection Commission.

The prospectus for STET 2008 are available at designated branches of Punjab National Bank located at the District or Sub divisional Head Quarters.
