Shimla: Taking a serious note of postal delays, the Himachal Pradesh High Court on Thursday told the state government to let two aspiring teachers appear in an exam for which their applications, sent through post, were received late.

The division bench of Chief Justice Kurian Joseph and Justice V.K. Sharma told the postmaster general to file a reply on the petition of two job-seekers whose applications were not delivered by Speed Post till the last date of submission.

Petitioners Dev Kumar and Pushap Raj Sharma said their applications could not be considered for the post of a Sanskrit teacher by the Himachal Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Board (HPSSSB) in Hamirpur due to postal delay.

The court pulled up the postmaster general and told him to place on record as to how many complaints were received by the department regarding delay in delivery of articles by Speed Post and steps taken to ensure timely delivery.

The case would come up for hearing on Aug 1. IANS
