Ahmedabad: Young Leaders' Organisation (YLO), in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII)-promoted, Young Indians (YI), will organize the 'Young Leaders World Summit - India Edition', at the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) between June 6 and June 9, 2008.
The four-day long summit will act as a platform to train students in wide-ranging global issues by conducting sessions similar to those of the United Nations' General Assembly.
For the global summit, Young Indians initially shortlisted around 400 students from over 1,000 applications received. Further short listing of candidates will see around 40 students representing campuses from Gujarat including Mudra Institute of Communication, Ahmedabad (MICA), National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Gandhinagar, and IIM-A.
"Students are being taken through rigorous training sessions to prepare them in the protocol of the UN. As many as 21 global issues like disarmament, world prices, and inflation will be debated upon. The sessions will also comprise resolutions that will be later sent as a report to the UN," informed Mr. Rahul Mirchandani, national vice-chairman - Young Indians.
The other highlights of the mega event will include presence of institutions like the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay (IIT-B), IIT Madras, IILM, St Stephens Mumbai, ICAI and ICFAI.
