Dehradun: In a bid to scout excellence in the field of R&D (Research & Development), the
Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee (IIT-R) will host the 3rd
Uttarakhand State Science and Technology Congress (USSTC) on November 10-11, 2008.
The announcement was made by Science and Technology Minister, Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank here.
The aim of the USSTC is to identify excellence and the R&D potential among the scientific community of the state.
It will also provide an opportunity to all researchers from the state to showcase their contribution and join with recognized experts, policy makers and academic leaders.
The Focal Theme of the congress will be "Science and Technology for Mountain Development".
The
Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology has invited research papers and posters from faculty members, scientists, research fellows, post-doctoral fellows and national associates working in different R&D research institutions, universities, colleges and any recognized, private or autonomous Science and Technology organizations located in
Uttarakhand for presentation during the 3rd USSTC.
The research papers and posters have been invited in 14 disciplines including Agricultural Sciences,
Home Science including Textile; Food, Nutrition & Child Development; Biotechnology, Biochemistry & Microbiology; Mathematics, Statistics & Computer Science; Botany; Medical Science including Pharmaceutical Science; Chemistry; Material Science & Nano-Technology;
Earth Sciences including Geology, Geomorphology, Geophysics & Glaciology; Physics; Engineering Science and Technology; Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry; Environmental Science & Forestry and Zoology.
