New Delhi: E-learning initiatives by the Government have been well acknowledged by the students' community as they no longer need to go through day-long mugging-up lessons and long practice sessions.

Several schools in the capital have come up with online assignments for their students as a supplement exercise to studies.

Praising the online education move, a faculty member of Delhi Public School (DPS), R.K. Puram, said, "Doing at their own pace, students find it easy to do on their own without taking any help from teachers. It helps them to assess their intelligence and learning level."

Depending on the support needed for e-learning tools, schools have prepared child-specific assignments to help them realize their strengths and weaknesses.

"For board students, we generally prepare assignments according to their needs. If a child is weak in Mathematics or a certain topic seems a little tricky to him, we give them assignments highlighting such topics. This exercise helps them to analyze themselves and to practice, which they need to score good marks", said Mrs. Jyoti Bose, Principal, Springdales School, Dhaula Kuan.

Some schools, however, do not go by the common opinion and are still following the practice of distributing hard-copies to students, arguing that, "If a group of students are ready to experiment with online assignments, we encourage them to try their hands in different things."
