A second coming for Defence Officers at IIM Lucknow

Lucknow: It is a second coming for Defence Officers at the Indian Institute of Management, Lucknow (IIML), which as a social responsibility and service to the Defence services, has announced the commencement of its six-month general management programme for Defence officers.

The programme stands open to the short service commission officers and others.

This being the seventh in a series of such courses offered by the university, 32 officers have already been selected.

The aim of this course is to impart the Defence Officers knowledge about the corporate world comprising of managerial systems and processes and to make them aware of the emerging business environment so that they are able to start a new career after retirement.

The programme has been carefully designed to include basic functional inputs such as - accounting and finance, decision sciences, organizational behavior, human resources management, communication skills, marketing, strategy, information technology and business environment; familiarize them with the requisite analytical tools and techniques; and develop a holistic perspective and global mindset to understand issues of an enterprise.

The Director of IIM-Lucknow, Mr. Devi Singh claimed, "The positive response from the officers and industry for the success of such courses has been overwhelming. The pleasure of preparing these disciplined and responsible officers play important role in today's competitive business world."
