Jammu: Former Jammu and Kashmir chief secretary S.S. Bloeria has been appointed as the first vice-chancellor of the Central University here, officials said on Friday.

The decision has been conveyed by the central human resource development ministry to the Jammu and Kashmir government, according to highly placed sources in the state government.

Bloeria, a 1968-batch Indian Administrative Service officer, who retired as chief secretary in 2005, is a strategic affairs expert.

The appointment of Bloeria, a native of Jammu, meets the demand of certain sections who were insisting on a local person as the vice-chancellor. IANS
