| Jammu and Kashmir Govt to open more ITIs February 23, 2008 Srinagar: Here is some good news for Jammu and Kashmir youths who are planning to join Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) for making career in vocational or technical education. The state government is going to set up few more Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in the state. The informational was given by Minister for technical education and sports Haji Nissar Ali yesterday at the Government Women Polytechnic College at Bemina. The Central Government has allocated Rs 37 crore for the purpose of renovation of the existing ITIs and also for opening new ITIs in the state. The funds will be utilised for creating basic infrastructure and also for purchasing necessary machinery for these institutions. He said there were 25 ITIs in the valley, including six institutions exclusively for women where vocational training was imparted in motor mechanic, automobile, radio, TV mechanic, cutting and tailoring, plumber, electrician, stenography, typing, leather, textile industries and carpentry. "As many as 2,780 seats were being made available for admission in these institutes annually in various trades. The setting up of new ITIs would open doors to opportunities in technical field," Ali added. |
