New Delhi: A group of 30 school children from remote and far flung areas of Jammu region called on Minister of State (Home) Mullappally Ramachandran here today.

The students, in the age group of 10-16 years, are on a Bharat Darshan tour organized by the Border Security Force (BSF). The minister shared his ideas with the children. He advised them to share the beauty of the diversified culture of India and help the country grow in a unified manner getting stronger each day.

He also emphasized that the government of India is deeply concerned about the education of children in J&K which has shown an upward trend. According to him, we should be proud of youngsters like Dr. Shah Faesal hailing from the state of J&K who topped the civil service examination and such youngsters can be a model for all.

The children belong to remote areas of Jammu and the visit would add to their broader vision about their country at large. The children then shared their experiences as they were thrilled by joyous metro ride, visit of Taj Mahal and witness the training of the BSF Officers at BSF Academy, Tekanpur.

As part of its civic action programme, BSF conducts Bharat Darshan Tour for the children of poor families from the remote and border areas of Jammu & Kashmir.

The main purpose of such visit is to expose the children of remote areas to the historical, cultural and technological profile of the country as also the development and progress the country has achieved. BSF is organizing such programmes since 1999.

Till date, 918 children from J&K has participated in the BSF sponsored 29 Bharat Darshan Tours. As part of the programme, they were taken to Chandigarh, Amritsar, Agra, Gwalior, Mathura and Delhi. These children also visited places of historical and cultural importance in these cities.
