Jammu university vice chancellor to be appointed soon
Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday asked the Union Human Resource Development Minister Kapil Sibal to appoint a vice chancellor of the proposed Jammu Central University and the latter assured early action.

Sibal assured the chief minister that "Jammu Central University will soon have a vice chancellor", according to an official release issued here.

The delay in the appointment has affected the setting up of the university, which was sanctioned almost two years ago.

The central government appointed academician Amitabh Mattoo as the vice chancellor of the new central university, but he declined to take up the responsibility citing personal reasons in January this year.

The chief minister told Sibal that more than 500 acres of land has already been allotted for the university campus. IANS
