Doctor of Laws degree conferred on Justice Balakrishnan

Thiruvananthapuram: Acknowledging the contributions made by Chief Justice of India K.G. Balakrishnan in the field of Law and Justice, the University of Kerala today conferred the honorary degree, 'Doctor of Laws' on Justice Balakrishnan.

The honorary degree was presented to him at a special convocation ceremony at the University Senate hall here. Vice-Chancellor M K Ramachandran Nair and Education Minister M.A. Baby were among the notable dignitaries present at the occasion.

With the honour, Justice Balakrishnan became the 25th scholar to be conferred the honorary degree by the varsity. Mr. Balakrishnan also holds similar honorary degrees from universities in Kurukshetra and Bangalore.

Delivering his acceptance speech, Justice Balakrishnan stressed on the importance of passion and dedication towards achieving any goal.

He said, "With relentless efforts and dedication, no goal is out of reach".

Handing over the degree, Governor and University Chancellor R L Bhatia highlighted Justice Balakrishnan's contributions in numerous landmark judgments.
