Kochi: The children at the Thripunithura Thekkumbhagam Government UP School, in an expedition to watch the millennium's longest solar eclipse organized by the School Science Club are preparing themselves to learn some lessons from it.

The headmistress of the school Beena U.P said that, "The children are excited to watch the solar eclipse for which they have already got their own eye-wears."

Preparing the children for the big day, the school teachers have also conducted special lessons on solar eclipses for their proper understanding of the concept.

In a run-up to Friday's event, the school had also screened the video CDs on solar eclipses as well as held discussions on the same which the school authorities describe as the part of their curriculum.

After the children are done with the activity to watch the eclipse happening, they shall be deployed onto a solar festival organized by the school called 'Sourotsavam' where they will discuss their first hand experience and new findings.
