Budding lawyers at Amity Law School get international acclaim
New Delhi: A team from Amity Law School (affiliated to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University) consisting of Shaunak Kashyap, Jyotika Jain (fifth year students) and Tanya Uppal (a fourth year student) has been adjudged as the "Best International Team" in the third International Infrastructure and Construction Law Arbitration Moot Competition (IICLAM) organized jointly by Kaden Boriss Legal LLP, National University of Singapore, Singapore International Arbitration Centre at National Law University in Delhi from November 13- 15, 2009.

IICLAM is an international level arbitration moot competition attempting to familiarize budding lawyers from around the world with arbitration as a system of resolution of commercial disputes arising out of the various infrastructure and construction projects around the world.

Shaunak Kashyap has been awarded the "Best Speaker Prize" and won a cash prize of US$200 along with a fully paid scholarship to National University of Singapore.

The team won a cash prize of US$700 and books worth Rs.11,000/- from Lexis Nexis Butterworths.

The competition consisted of both national and international teams, out of which only 12 teams were shortlisted to participate in the oral rounds based on their memorial scores.

The team argued before Mr. Justice Sikri in the semi-final rounds and Justice G.S. Singhvi in the final rounds. The team representing Amity Law School defeated not only national teams, but also international teams to make it to the finals where they competed against Gujarat National Law University.

The third IICLAM comprised of three rounds: 'Preliminary Round', 'Semi-finals' and 'Finals'. The inauguration ceremony of the competition and the Preliminary Round was held on November 14, 2009. The Semi-Final and Final rounds were held on November 15, 2009 followed by the prize distribution ceremony in the evening.
