National law varsities sign MoU to conduct 'CAT' from next year

New Delhi: From the next academic year you need not have to sit for separate entrance examination for admission into National Law Universities (NLUs). A memorandum of understanding (MoU) has been signed among all seven national law universities to conduct a Combined Admission Test (CAT) for their LLB programme from the next academic session.

As per the joint agreement, a common admission form will now be issued to candidates. The entrance is expected to be held on the first Sunday of May 2008. The NLSIU, Bangalore, will hold the first exam.

The participating institutions for the CAT are the National Law School of India University, Bangalore; the NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad; the National Law Institute University, Bhopal; the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata; the National Law University, Jodhpur; the Hidayatullah National Law University, Raipur; and the Gujarat National Law University, Gandhinagar.
