President meets GLC-Mumbai students

New Delhi: A group of students from the Government Law College (GLC) Mumbai met the President of India, Mrs. Pratibha Devisingh Patil, at the Rashtrapati Bhavan here today.

The President has been the alumni of the Government Law College (GLC) Mumbai, from where she obtained a law degree in 1963.

The group of students is currently in the capital on their Delhi Study Tour, during which they have had an opportunity to meet various dignitaries, political leaders, lawyers and judges.

During the interaction, the President sought to know why nearly half of the group members were women.

The women students of the college informed the President that, as an alumnus of the college, she has been an inspiration for women wanting to take up a career in law.

The President was also informed that an increasing number of women are wanting to take-up the law profession, so that they can help women in need of legal aid.
