Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh government wants technical and professional colleges across the state to verify the authenticity of companies participating in campus recruitment after some firms were found cheating students, officials said.

The technical education department would soon issue a circular in this regards to all technical and professional colleges in accordance with the directives of the Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission (MPHRC) which recently received a complaint about some companies duping students, they said.

There have been cases when the students were offered lucrative jobs and asked to deposit a certain amount as security before undergoing professional training. However, a few days after students deposited the requisite amount, the companies vanished.

In one such complaint to the MPHRC, Hemlata Pawar on March 13 alleged that a Noida-based software company asked the selected students to deposit Rs.75,000 before undergoing training but vanished a couple of weeks after accepting money.

"As many as 55 students, pursuing engineering courses, were selected by the company during campus placement organised at the Sagar Institute of Research and Technology. They were offered a package of Rs.240,000 and asked to undergo four-month training for which they were required to deposit Rs.75,000 each. The company also promised Rs.2,500 as stipend during the training period but it vanished a couple of weeks after the money was deposited," the complainant alleged.

The department conducted an inquiry in the matter and found the complaint to be true following which the MPHRC summoned Director (Technical Education) Arun Nehar and asked him to direct the colleges to check the veracity of companies participating in campus placements. IANS
