Pune: The construction work for the proposed 400 crore-Science Park at Pimpri-Chinchwad (Pune) is all set to begin in the coming two months. The one of its kind park is being developed through public-private partnership by the Pimpri-Chinchwad Muncipal Corporation (PCMC) at Chinchwad.
The park will focus not only on entertainment technologies but also on generating knowledge on science and education, informed Mr. Rajendra Jagdale, Director general and chief executive officer, Science and Technology Park.
Adding to this Mr. Jagdale, said that, a Regional Science Centre will also be set up on the premises to further assist science professionals conduct quality research. The science park will also boost of the tallest building in Pimpri-Chinchwad Township which will include a cafeteria, spread over an area of 1.5 lakh sq ft, and a velodrome will be set up near the Science Park on 4 acres of land.
He further disclosed that the Science Park will be largest in the country as it will replace the current largest science park in the country-situated at Kolkata, presently covering an area of over 25 acres.
Elaborating on the unique features of the science park, Mr. Jagdale said, "A unique palm park will be developed, spread over two or three acres of land. It will house 100 types of palm trees, 67 spaces from India and the others from abroad".
