Mumbai University to set up chemical engineering centre

Mumbai: In a bid to promote the use of chedmical engineering in nuclear technology, the University Institute of Chemical Technology (UICT) of the Mumbai University in collaboration with the Department of Atomic Energy will set up a centre for chemical engineering education and research.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the establishment of the Chemical Engineering Education and Research Centre will be signed on Thursday.

G.D. Jadhav, head of the chemical engineering department of the UICT, told IANS: "The centre will be set up in the UICT campus and will induct about 100 PhD scholars guided by the UICT faculty and scientists from the department of the atomic energy."

Jadhav added that the centre would support a number of collaborative research programmes in the field of nuclear fuel cycle and reactors. IANS
