Mumbai: A series of seminars in Basic Life Support techniques has been initiated by 'Dial 1298' in various schools and colleges of
Mumbai.
Teachers from Nutan Vidya Mandir (Malad) were taught the basic life support techniques during a three-hour workshop. Teachers were informed how to handle patients in emergencies like burns, stroke, drowning and heart attack. They were also informed about bandgaging, splinting etc.
The teachers will further teach students about the basic life support techniques.
"We have learned many things which we were not aware of. We would be proud if our students save lives of the people,'' said one of the teachers who found the workshop interesting.
"Sometimes people can cause more harm than good in the golden hour. The death of an accident victim at D.N. Road near CST and the way people handled her was unfortunate,'' said Dr. Ajay Desai of Life Supporters Institute of Health Sciences.
'Dial 1298' is an initiative started by a group of young professionals to roll out a nationwide network of life support ambulance services.
"We started our group as an ambulance service. But later we realised that only providing ambulance services was not enough. A person can do a lot for the victim in the time between he calls an ambulance and when it actually arrives. To train youngsters for this purpose, we are conducting free workshops in schools and colleges in the city'', said Karina Zaveri from Dial 1298.
