NIT Calicut to focus on MBA technology
Kozhikode: The National Institute of Technology, Calicut (NIT-C) - School of Management Studies will focus on technology management for its MBA programme in the 2010-2012 academic year which will be open only to B.Tech/B.Arch/BE/B.Sc engineering degree holders.

Admission to the course will be based on marks scored in the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) Common Admission Test (CAT) however, final admission will be based on the candidate's performance in the Bachelor's degree examination, group discussion and interview.

Group discussion and interview will be held in Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Mumbai and NIT Calicut.

"The student intake is expected to increase from 30 last year to 50 in 2010," said a spokesman of the business school.

Online application can be downloaded from the school web site.

The application data sheet with relevant attachments should be sent to the Coordinator, MBA Admissions, School of Management Studies, National Institute of Technology Calicut, Kozhikode - 673 601, Kerala, before February 5.

Candidates who have appeared or will take the graduation degree examination have to send the course completion certificate from the head of the institution and self-attested copies of all available mark lists along with the application data sheet.

Those selected for admission should submit all original certificates, including degree certificate, at the time of reporting for admission.

The two-year programme will have six trimesters, each year divided into three trimesters.

A trimester will be of 10 to 12 weeks duration with core courses during the first year.

At the end of the first year, a summer internship in a professional organisation for 8-10 weeks is compulsory.

The second year would comprise both core and elective courses, including a business research project.

The specialization can be opted from any of the five areas - production management; human resources management; finance management; marketing management; and business analytics and systems.

The list of candidates selected for group discussion (GD) and interview will be published on February 12. Group discussion and interview will be from February 22.

The results will be published on March 25 and the session will begin on May 30.
