New Delhi: Delhi's two top most medical colleges namely All India Institute of Medical Sciences and Vardhman Mahavir Medical College is all set to begin the implementation of quota system in the coming academic session for OBC candidates.
But for a majority of other medical educational institutions which falls under the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry, the percentage of implementation will be between 40 and 70 pc. It is stated in the recent meeting set up here on Thursday, among these institutions and family welfare ministry. Moreover, according to the sources AIIMS has made up its mind to boost 27 seats to its 50 MBBS course while 41 seats would be pulsed to the existing 138 seats for the post-graduation courses.
The AIIMS authorities were directed by Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss to commence a fresh 200 - seat nursing college. On the similar lines the post-graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) at Chandigarh and the Jawaharlal Institute of post-graduate Medical Education and Research at Punducherry will increase by 19 seats to accommodate OBC students along with all the All India Institute of Hygiene and Public Health at Kolkata.
There are also other various hospitals and medical institutions nation wide along with the above stated ones which are going to implement the OBC quota from the coming academic session i.e. 2008-09.
