School exam board error forces student to waste two years
Kendrapada: A wrong piece of information posted on the Orissa's Board of Secondary Education (BSE) website and published in its records has forced a student to take his class 10 board examinations twice and start preparing for a third attempt, though he had passed the first time.

Rajesh Sahu, a resident of Gulnagar village in Kendrapada district, about 100 km from state capital Bhubaneswar, had appeared for the exams in 2008 at a local school, the student's father Pravakar told the sources on Thursday.

The BSE in its website declared Sahu had failed, the father alleged.

The boy took the examination again in 2009 and was once against declared unsuccessful following which he is preparing to appear this year as well.

It came as a surprise when the school told the boy this week that he had passed the High School Certificate (HSC) examination in the first attempt in 2008.

"My son lost two valuable years due to wrong information posted on the board's website and board result book," Pravakar said.

"I have spent about five thousand rupees to provide private tuition to my son from 2008 to 2010. I will file a case against the board and demand compensation," he said.

"It has come to the notice of the authorities. A probe has been ordered," said R.K. Dash, a senior district official. IANS
