Puducherry: The Government of Puducherry (formerly Pondicherry) has decided to launch a program on E-Learning in schools in the Union Territory (UT).

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) in this regard will be signed very soon between the UT administration and the Wipro Foundation to implement the scheme.

The administration has identified as many as 80 schools in the UT for the first phase of the implementation of the programme, Education Minister M.O.H.F Shahjahan said in a press conference on Wednesday.

The program titled as "smart school system" is aimed at encouraging computer-based teaching and learning so that proficiency of children could be promoted from the tender age, Shahjahan added.
