Puducherry: Pondicherry University has witnessed a 16 percent increase in enrollment of girls' student during the last two years. Authorities at the varsity attribute the increase to the implementation of free transport facility and free accommodation at hostels of the varsity.

This was informed by S. Loganathan, Registrar of the varsity during the inaugural session of a colloquium on "Women and Moral Policing".

The colloquium was organized by the Centre for Women's Studies, School of Social Sciences and International Studies of the University.
