Workshops on research methods at Pondicherry University from Sept 23

Puducherry: Three national level workshops on research methods and techniques will be conducted by the University Grants Commission-Academic Staff College (UGC-ASC) at the Pondicherry University, beginning on September 23.

The workshops will be conducted on September 23 and 24 and will focus on training research guides. According to the UGC-ASC Director S. Hariharan, the college has received around 1,700 applications from across the country from which about 150 candidates from these have been selected.

The Director informed that another main focus of the workshop will be training research guides in their task of selecting and screening research areas of scholars in order to avoid repetition of topics.

The second workshop that will be held from September 30 to October 1, will focus mainly on training 150 research scholars from all over India.

The topics that will be discussed during the workshop include methodology of research, art of writing research reports, etc.

The third workshop will be conducted from October 28 and 29. Its main focus will be to train 100 teacher scholars who have registered for various research programmes across India.
